My work highlights and dismantles hierarchies by combining materials and imagery that don't usually live together. I use classical painting approaches to render my own own personal imagery, as a method of inserting my own queer narrative into a canon of historical significance. It’s liberating to paint in way that was, for most of history, restricted to white, cisgender, straight men."
